These 2 79 Series builds, converted completely stock, straight from the dealership vehicles into highly sophisticated builds – which will make you forget that the 70 Series LandCruisers are stuck in time with their basic OEM features!
The 79’s Tray & Canopy
The Sandy and Silver Dual Cabs both showcase what Bullant Engineering are best at. Bullant are specialist fabricators and they manufactured 2 completely different looks for the back of these 2 rigs, but, at the end of the day you can see that they were both made using knowledge and only the best quality products.
The Sandy 79 features a 1850 x 1800 Aluminium Tray with quality stainless latches and hinges. Half the tray was colour coded to match the body of the vehicle, whilst the other half, including the bed of the tray, was powder coated black in “Xtreme Coating”.
On the other hand, the Silver 79 displays a whole different look. Featuring a 1850 x 1800 Fully Welded Aluminium Chassis Mounted Canopy. It incorporates the colour of the vehicles body into the canopies doors and under tray toolboxes, whilst also powder coating the rear and bed in the black “Xtreme Coating”.
79 Series Underbody Work
This is where these 2 builds get exciting. These 2 79’s visited Swank Fabrication for a JMACX Coil Conversion. A 79 Series comes from factory with leaf springs in the rear but coil suspension tends to provide more range of movement than the leaf springs. Coils are also believed to absorb shock better, which in term, can provide a more comfortable ride. The JMACX Coil Conversion also features a Track Corrected Diff Housing. These Diffs are to correct the track to match front diff, as factory units are 100mm narrower. The coils also house 2 rear airbags by Airbag Man! These 2 vehicles also got a 3.5″ Torqit DPF back exhaust, brake booster upgrade, braided brake lines, and an NPC Clutch.
79 Series LandCruiser Interior
There is a lot that you can do and add to the interior of a 79 Series LandCruiser, since most owners you come by have the opinion that they’re stuck in 1985 – which isn’t far from the truth!
The Department of Interior supplied us with both a floor and roof console that offers plenty of storage as well as switch banks and cup holders (which the 70 Series lacks). The floor console paired up prefect next to the Bushman 15L Console Fridge Freezer which is super convenient for long roadtrips!
Interior electronics were also a big amongst these builds. We wanted to ensure the owner of these vehicles was on the ball before a problem arose. The ScanGauge 2 installed in the floor console allows for close monitoring of temperatures, pressures and fuel usage. On top of that, we also installed a Redarc Brake controller, an Airbag Man Pressure Monitor and a Kenwood head unit with an incorporated reverse camera. Last but not least a GME XRS UHF and Clearview Next Gen Towing Mirrors were on the list of mods, to tie in with the theme of safety and vehicle awareness.
79 Series Bar Work
Using the Onka 4×4 70 Series Bull Bar and Side Steps gives the 79 Series a look that is still very unique in Australia. The bull bar is also very well set up with LED lights, winching points and an ARD-compliant forward 50mm hitch, perfect for those that may want to maneuver their trailer in tight spaces.
All in all these 79’s have been given the full treatment! We had a great time working on these rigs and if you have big plans for a build as awesome as this pair but you don’t know where to begin, contact us today, because after all we are big on vehicle project management!
