An upgrade to your 4WD with extra lighting offers up huge benefits, making it easier to navigate night-time driving, whether you are adventuring or working.
Installing quality driving lights, such as LED driving lights, on your 4x4 presents a more durable and high-performing option, which will help minimise fatigue and increase your safety while driving at night.
At M4C, we have an extensive range of vehicle lighting options to suit your every driving need including spotlights, LED light bars and camp/work lights. From the engineering of mounts, body strength and finish, to the flawless lenses and reflectors, our range of lights are selected to withstand the harshest conditions. We stock the best brands including Lightforce, Ultra Vision, Lazer Lamps and more!
When considering new driving lights, first look at your needs, your vehicle, how often you intend to use the lights and the type of circumstances you may find yourself in. For example, will you be travelling on a bitumen highway, outback dirt road or finding camp down a lonely 4WD track after dark?
Next, choose the type of lighting solution you need. There really are only two choices: Spotlights and light bars (but many different brands to choose from).
A spotlight usually gives a long, narrow spot of light where you can see far into the distance…
while a light bar tends to give a shorter, more widespread beam of light.
Our team is happy to walk you through the lighting solutions we recommend and show you the differences and advantages of both options.
High-quality LEDs (that is, light-emitting diodes) are a popular choice for night-time drivers because they provide “good light”. The main benefit of LEDs is that they light up instantly, don’t use a lot of power and have “good light” when it comes to spotlights and light bars.
Not all light is created equal and quality driving lights, including LEDs, will help you avoid tired eyes and incessant reflections of road signs. When you upgrade your lighting, consider these points:
Reflectors can be designed to spread light either in a wide beam or focus it on distance. Many brands focus on the distance for marketing but don't bother about how wide the beam is. Both are important.
You need a housing that is lightweight, strong and weather resistant. These lights are usually on the front of your vehicle where they will be impacted but all manner of things. Make sure the lenses, housing and mounting system are made to handle Australia’s tough driving conditions.
As we have mentioned, not all driving lights are created equal, which is why it’s important to speak with a 4x4 accessories professional about whether the lights you want to fit are shock, dust and water resistant. We are happy to help.
The benefits of fitting additional (or better) aftermarket driving lights to your 4WD offers up these benefits and makes for a more enjoyable trip.
