What does a Safari snorkel do?
Generally, the air intake system of your 4WD is located under the bonnet. A 4WD snorkel simply lifts the position of the air intake higher on the vehicle to allow for more clean, fresh air to enter the engine. This is extremely helpful when travelling in dusty conditions or when crossing rivers.
A 4×4 snorkel can also help to improve fuel efficiency, increase performance of your 4WD and increase wading depth (because it sits higher on the vehicle).

Increased wading depth
Water is one of the greatest weaknesses to an engine and the easiest way for water to get into the engine is through the air intake. Raising the intake above the height of most water crossings will help to ensure water doesn’t do damage to the engine.
