Toyota recently updated the look of the 76, 78 and 79 Series Landcruiser which is the first change to come to these vehicles in 15 years!
One of our staff members, Chelsea, took delivery of her new Facelift 76 in January 2024, and has since been slowly modifying it to be a capable offroad tourer. Down below we will go into detail with what she has modified so far. As you all know the list of modifications is never ending, so this is just the beginning for her 76 Series.
Suspension, Rims and Tyres
On Chelsea’s 76, she wanted to include high performance suspension components to ensure her new vehicle is capable not only on road, but off road too. We installed Dobinsons Suspension to the rig, including Monotube Remote Reservoir 3 Way Adjustable Shock Absorbers along with Front Coil Springs, Rear Leaf Springs, rated to 450kg as she will eventually install her Bush Company Roof Top Tent and Awning along with a Dual Battery Set Up and Rear Drawer Set Up, a Steering Damper, Blackhawk Radius Arms and a Roadsafe Panhard Rod.
Chelsea’s car also needed new Tyres and Rims. She went with a set of ROH Assault Machined 17″ Rims, which stand out against the graphite vehicle, but are also manufactured by a top quality brand. For the rubber, she went with a set of Maxxis Razr MT’s.
Bullbar and Rock Sliders
Chelsea’s first modification to her 76 was a Jungle 4×4 Offroad Loopless Sports Bar. She liked the look of the bar as it is stylish and shows off the updated front end of the vehicle, and is also winch compatible for when she eventually installs a winch.
She installed Outback Accessories Rock Sliders to the vehicle, which shield the bottom edges of the vehicle whilst offroad. These sit super close to the vehicle and make it a clean finish.
Communication
Every 4WD needs a form of communication. Chelsea went with the Uniden XTRAK 80 Pro 4×4 Pack, which is an all in one pack including a UHF radio and Antenna. She made a bracket that bolts to the factory bolt holes on the LH Side barn door as that’s where she wanted to mount the antenna.
