Toyota has recently given the 76, 78, and 79 Series Landcruisers a fresh update, marking the first significant change to these vehicles in 15 years!
Chelsea, took delivery of her Facelift 76 Series Landcruiser in January of 2024 and has been steadily modifying it to become a reliable off-road tourer. Below, we’ll dive into the details of the upgrades she’s made so far. As we all know, the list of modifications is always growing, so this is just the beginning for Chelsea’s 76 Series.
Suspension, Rims, and Tyres
For Chelsea’s 76, she focused on installing high-performance suspension components to ensure it performs well both on and off the road. We fitted it with Dobinsons Suspension, including Monotube Remote Reservoir 3-Way Adjustable Shock Absorbers, Front Coil Springs, and Rear Leaf Springs rated to 450kg. These upgrades are designed to support her future additions, such as a Dual Battery Setup, and Rear Drawer Setup. The setup also includes a Steering Damper, Blackhawk Radius Arms, and a Roadsafe Panhard Rod.
For wheels and tyres, Chelsea chose ROH Assault Machined 17” Rims, which complement the vehicle’s graphite finish and come from a trusted brand. She paired them with Maxxis Razr MT tyres for durability and performance.
Bullbar and Rock Sliders
Chelsea’s first modification to her 76 was a Jungle 4×4 Offroad Loopless Sports Bar. She loved its stylish design that highlights the updated front end of the vehicle, and it’s also winch-compatible for when she adds a winch later on.
To protect the underside of her vehicle during off-road adventures, she installed Outback Accessories Rock Sliders. These sit close to the vehicle, providing excellent protection while maintaining a sleek and clean look.
Communication
Every 4WD needs a reliable communication system, so Chelsea opted for the Uniden XTRAK 80 Pro 4×4 Pack. This all-in-one package includes a UHF radio and antenna. She custom-built a bracket that attaches to the factory bolt holes on the left-hand side barn door, providing a secure and convenient spot to mount the antenna.
This is just the start of Chelsea’s journey in making her 76 Series an off-road powerhouse!
